My father has a whole tea set very similar in design to this, which we think is between 60-100 years old and in perfect nick, no missing pieces.
Do you know whether its worth anything? Or could you tell me anything about it?
The tea cups also have a photograph in bottom which you can see when you hold it up to the light.
Regards
Julie

Hello Julie,
Your father’s tea set sounds very nice indeed, especially the part with the photograph on the underside which is seen when held up to the light. I have seen these before here in Japan though I have not often had a chance to sell them and therefore know little about the history or value of this type of Japanese ceramic. I think that your best bet might be to locate an antique dealer in your area who specializes in Japanese ceramics as they can probably give you a better idea of value than I. I’m sorry that I don’t have the proper knowledge or experience for this type of appraisal and I hope that you can find an expert who can help you.
Sincerely,
Kurt
